IMAGES, IDOLS AND INTERRUPTIONS..
Linda Keith
Part 4
We learned that idols begin as images in the mind. Then, we hold that idol until
it is shaken loose from us, or we experience the interruptions of Father. This
is the definition that Webster gives, regarding INTERRUPTION:
(1)to break the progress or continuity of something; (2) to impede or stop by
breaking in on something; (3) to break in while someone else is speaking or
performing.
One thing that this definition of this word "interrupt" shows us, is that
"interruption" is not an ending of something. It shows a beginning, then the
interruption, and then the progression of what has been begun.
Many of Father's people often think of the interruptions from Father as
punishment, or a fight that "the devil" is bringing against us. Let's look at
some scriptures and look for the interruptions that came from Father.
Job 1:1, 8-11, "There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that
man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil."
This shows us that we may love Father and desire to gain understanding from Him,
and to obey Him. And we are not, in this study, trying to figure out why God
brought all of this stuff upon Job, we just want to see the interruption that
Father upon Job, for HIS REASON.
VS6-12, "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves
before the Lord and Satan came ALSO AMONG THEM. And the Lord said unto Satan,
Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and
fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the Lord said unto
Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the
earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not
thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on
every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is
increased in the land. But, put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he
hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the Lord said UNTO SATAN, Behold,
all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So
Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord."
Father wanted us to understand who gave permission for ANYTHING to happen to
Job. So much so, that He inspired it to be written again in
2:1-6.
Now apparently, Father wanted this done, FOR HIS OWN REASON. We all have our
thoughts on what His reason was, but this is not a part of this study. But, this
was and INTERRUPTION of God. Satan was used to bring to pass what it was that
God wanted brought forth. But, know, it was God's idea and it was God who gave
Satan permission to do what he did.
In Job, this interruption was a long, drawn out and painful thing for Job to
experience. But, in the end, the purpose of God was fulfilled.
Numbers
20:7-12, "And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou
the assembly together, thou and Aaron they brother, and speak ye unto the rock
before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth
to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their
beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him.
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock and he
said unto the, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice, and the
water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank and their beasts also. And
the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me
in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this
congregation into the land which I have given them."
God told Moses what to do, but, Moses did it as he wanted. This caused the
interruption in Moses' plans.
MT.16:21-23,"From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how
that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief
priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised again the third day. Then Peter
took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall
not be unto thee. And he turned and said to Peter, get thee behind me, Satan;
thou art an offense unto me; for thou savourest not the things that be of God,
but those that be of men."
As well intended as some things that we think and do, may be, when we think that
WE had better "take care of" God and what He gives us to say and do, then the
idol that we are seeing is "I", and "I's" thoughts. The disciples, as well as
some people today, had been listening to Jesus all that time, and KNEW that
EVERYTHING He tells us IS TRUE, whether we understand it or not, we have to have
things OUR way. But, I guarantee you that HE will interrupt us, as He did Peter.
You know, for years and years, we can show folks how holy we are; how much more
we know than others; how much this; or how that much that; but, if it's all head
knowledge or pride that gets bigger than what we know, then comes the
INTERRUPTION!! With all we know, THE FRUITS AREN'T SHOWING!. And either we will
go on being a "well schooled scholar" of the scripture sort of person, or we
will take the interruption and allow Father to do a work in us. Or we'll go on
knowing, with no fruit manifesting.
John 5:39-40, "Ye search the scriptures, for in them ye THINK ye have eternal
life, and they are they which testify OF ME. And ye will not come to me...."
Doctrines!! We receive doctrines, usually, from those teaching and preaching,
and that's as it should be.
(Rom 10:14-17)
But, until we take what is preached or taught to Father and receive revelation
or understanding, it's jus second hand info. And it is like the blind leading
the blind. The Rapture teaching is a good example of this. You may ask, where is
the interruption for those who died believing this doctrine? It's on the OTHER
SIDE OF JORDAN!
(Heb 11:40).
Believing one thing and not allowing Father's expanded understanding of that
thing will effect EVERYTHING we believe.
In the Book of Revelation, we are told to "come up hiter".Then we're told, "come
hiter". Then we told "come".
Rev. 4:1, "After this I looked, and behold a door was opened in HEAVEN. (our
mind). and the first voice I heard which I heard was as it were of a trumpet (a
clear sounding Word) talking with me; which said Come up hither and I will shew
thee things which must be hereafter."
Rev. 22:9, "And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven
vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me saying, Come hither and
I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife."
Rev. 22:17, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that is athirst
come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."
Our reasons for not "coming" have become our idols. And the interruptions....are
that we will stay in the same realm we've walked in for years, instead, of
rising in Father and have Him rise in us. Father will use ANYTHING that He deems
necessary to raise us up higher. A picture, a word, or anything, to expand our
understanding. And we will embrace that expansion or we can expect an
interruption!
One thing I've found; no matter how well we know a scripture and the
understanding that He has given us, regarding that scripture; there is an
expanding of understanding, yet to come. And each understanding that He gives,
is more intimate than the last one. But, when we refuse any further revelation
or understanding, regardless of our reasons, then we have created an idol. We
hold on to that idol for dear life, but, it will only bring forth stagnation and
death.
Many times, Father will bring something to us to help us rise in Him and Him
rise in us. And many times, we allow it to tickle our ears and then forget about
it, OR bring it up when we want to sound wise and deep; otherwise we forget it.
Then comes the interruption of Father. One thing we should all know; IF we
won't move on in Him and allow Him to move on in and through us, He will move on
to someone who will.
Idols keep us from moving on. Remember, images (our thoughts) turn into idols.
And idols cause interruptions to come upon us.
Here is a list of things that have been made idols of; they sound "religious"
and that's the problem:
(1) praying
(2) doctrines
(3) Jesus (the man)
(4) head knowledge
(5) the bible
(6) man...teachers, preachers, cronies, scholars, and books.
May Father speak to all of us concerning these things.
Be blessed.
It is understandable for a child to be afraid of the dark; but, why would an
adult be afraid of the LIGHT?
