CHAPTER 5

The Appearance of Christ in Some Chosen Vessels

*"Wherefore the spirit of David shall revive in this blossoming root. These will have might given them to overcome the Dragon and his angels, even as David overcame Goliath and the Philistine army. This will be the standing up of the great prince Michael and will be as the appearance of Moses against Pharaoh, in order that the chosen seed may be brought out of hard servitude. Egypt doth figure this servile creation under which Abraham's seed groans, but a prophet, and the most prophetical generation, will the Most High raise up who shall deliver His people by the force of spiritual arms. For which there must be certain head powers to bear the first office, who are to be persons in favor with God, whose dread and fear shall fall on all nations, visible and invisible, because of the mighty acting power of the Holy Spirit which shall rest upon them. For Christ will appear in some chosen vessels to bring into the Promised Land, the New Creation state. "

In other words, this child caught up to become identified with governing authority is the blossoming root, known as the Manchild company, who will, by virtue of the mighty-acting power of the Holy Spirit upon it, make war with the dragon and his angels and overcome them. This is God's heavenly militia which He has enrolled to go against Satan and his angels in the might and power of spiritual arms.

These will have learned to come into and so abide in His Presence that it is most natural for them to walk in this place of His Presence, and to do all things from thence. They have found the experience of the secret place of the Most High.

Jane Leade put out another paper entitled, "A Short Exercise For The Spiritual Warriors." In it she denotes what is needed in order to come into the state of abiding in His Presence. Those interested in knowing more about this may write me and ask for a copy, which I will be glad to send you. This small, but mighty, remnant of Overcomers are but the blossoming root of the New Creation Plants that will spring forth throughout the earth gradually and progressively, until the earth is filled with the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Just as God visited Egypt with plagues and judgment in order to bring the release of His natural chosen seed, so also will He visit this world with the vials of revelation in order to bring about the final release of the true seed of Abraham, that generation which is Christ's. The prophecy is quite clear: there must be raised certain head powers to bear the first office. That is, God will raise up those who have been predestinated by the divine ordination of God to bear the governing responsibility.

These will not bear rule because they have completed a course in a Bible School and have been given a diploma and ordination papers. They will not bear rule because they understand many of the great truths of the Bible, or because they have been successful in the business world, or because they are people in favor with the religious leaders of their day, or because they are mentally, emotionally, or financially capable.

Those appointed to such an office will be appointed by none other than the Lord Himself. As such, they will be His spokesmen and representatives on earth. They will do only that which they see Him doing in heaven, i.e., "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" --Matthew 16:19. One can only lawfully do on earth what God is doing in heaven. That is the main reason the "Faith and Prosperity" message, though it had a kernel of truth, never worked.

"For Christ shall appear in some chosen vessels..."  An amazing statement, especially to have been spoken in the year 1619. Even in this day of the unfolding revelation of the purposes of God in Christ, many of the more learned and esteemed religious leaders with large followings brand such a statement as heretical. But time and events will once again prove true the saying that, "First, the new thing is attacked as absurd; then (because of events) it is admitted to be true but insignificant; finally, it is seen to be so important that its adversaries claim that they themselves discovered it."

The truth is, God was never interested in an earthly temple. He never told either David or Solomon to build Him a temple. "Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?" In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?" --2 Samuel 7:5 & 7.

All the temples, houses, and tabernacles in the Old Testament were but types of the true, which is Christ Jesus and His Body! Does not the Holy Ghost testify to this? "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?" --1 Corinthians 3:16. Why then, except that we have been wrongly taught, have we looked for His appearing out in the skies somewhere? But, you may ask, "Do not the scriptures state that when He comes every eye shall see Him?" Most surely.

But He need not come in the skies for every eye to see Him. "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts" -- Malachi 3:1. "For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty" --2 Peter 1:16. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is" --1 John 3:2. "When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day" --2 Thessalonians 1:10.

The coming, or appearing, of the Lord will be in His people; that is, in the true temple of the Lord. This is why John exhorted the believers under his care..., "...little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming" --1 John 2:28. In John 15 we are told to abide in Him that we might bring forth much fruit, for herein is (my) Father glorified.

The fruit that is borne by abiding in Christ is not more souls saved, more witnessing and testifying, more and more good works. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory. This, Christ in you, is the precious fruit of the earth that the Husbandman of James 5:7 has long patience for as He waits for it to come to 100-fold maturation.

When this occurs AND the Father's appointed time comes, when the trump of God sounds, then all those in whom the cross has done its effectual work, all those in whom Christ has been fully formed unto the perfect man, will suddenly, all at the same time, (1) in the twinkling of an eye, I believe, MANIFEST CHRIST! This is the manifestation of the sons of God spoken of in Romans 8:19. This is the Lord suddenly appearing in His temple (Malachi 3:1). It is the Lord coming to be glorified IN His saints, and to be admired IN them that believe. (2 Thessalonians 1;10)"

This is the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles when the Lord comes to dwell in His people in fullness, rather than in measure, as we have known through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. "And...Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God" --Revelation 21:3. Is this not what was prophesied in ages past? "And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people." -- Leviticus 26:11,12. This is surely the beginning of the realization of the original intention of the great and merciful heart of God from the beginning -- that He might dwell with and fellowship with man without consuming him. This hope and intention is couched in the words, "Let us make man (mankind, not, a man) in our image, after our likeness..." -- Gen. 1:26, and it is the cause of exultation in the last book of our Bible, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people and God himself shall be with them and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be NO MORE DEATH (not even the second death), neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are FAITHFUL AND TRUE" -- Revelation 21:3-5.

Think of it! NO more death, NO more pain, NO more crying, because the former things, all of them, are passed away! Thus, He that sitteth upon the throne can exultantly exclaim, "It is done! I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End! I started all things with a thought in mind toward man, and I have also completed all things and have realized the intentions I had in mind when I made the creature subject to vanity."

What we have here is the New Creation state into which the Manchild company has moved first. Thus, they are also called the Firstfruits company and many other things the Bible has used to typify them and the truth concerning them. The old creation in Adam has passed away and behold, all things are new! Beloved, is that not the message God has for so long declared by the cross of Jesus Christ, the last Adam?

The cross has declared ALL in Adam to have been eternally judged and forever put away. It is not a better, upgraded version of us that He is after. It is not a fresh arrangement of our deodorized, Adamic garbage that He is after. It is not turning over a new leaf. It is a New Creation! That is only possible through and by Him, but He is ever willing to do that which is needed. The fact is, we were not delivered from death by the cross. We were delivered to it! A truth, sad to say, that most of Christendom has yet to learn.

1. I am told that "in a moment" is from the Greek words, "en atomos", or in the atoms. It should really have been translated, "We shall be changed in the atoms" -- in the smallest part of our body, not in the smallest part of time! It has to do with matter, not time.
