CHAPTER 3

A New Name (Nature) Given

*"This New Name (or Authority) will distinguish them from the seven thousand names of Babylon. The election and preparation of this Virgin Church is to be after a secret and hidden manner. As David in his ministry was chosen and anointed by the prophet of the Lord, yet was not admitted to the outward profession of the Kingdom for a considerable time afterward, of the stem of David a Virgin Church, which hath known nothing of a man or human constitution, is to be born and it will require some time for it to get out of the minority and arrive at full and mature age."

Those so sealed in their foreheads as seen in Revelation 7 ("Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads" --Revelation 7:3.), will receive all that goes with the "placement of adoption." It is not just that another "name," as we know names, is conferred upon them. Far from it. This book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ has more spiritual things in view than just the giving out of another name.

In the biblical sense a name often has to do with a prevailing nature. We see this clearly in the account of Nabal, Abigail's husband. "Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send" --1 Samuel 25:25. Nabal means, folly.

Jacob means "schemer, conniver, supplanter." Why? Because that's what he was by nature. Read his early life story to see how he attempted to obtain the inheritance through deceit. In God's eyes it was already his, but he tried to possess it in the strength of self, even as we have tried many times. After Jacob's encounter with the Lord at the brook Jabbok, the Lord touched Jacob in his thigh, the place of his strength. He crippled him so that from then on he never walked as he had in the past but leaned upon his staff until the day of his death. His name was changed from Jacob (schemer), to Israel, (a prince with God). God changed Jacob's name because He had accomplished a change in his nature.

Jacob is a type of those in this age whom God is so weakening, so crippling as to their own nature and abilities, that they will never again be able to walk as before in their own strength and abilities, but must forever go forth leaning upon their heavenly Staff. They, by the exceeding great and precious promises of God, are being made partakers of His divine nature/name. Those so dealt with by the Lord as to receive a change in their very nature will receive a "new name." "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it" --Revelation 2:17. That "white stone" was given to an individual who had been in bondage, but was fully released in the year of jubilee. It was proof of his full redemption. The new name is the new nature of the New Creation which is Christ. But, until this work is completed, it doth not yet appear what we shall be.

This very thing, their lives showing forth Christ, is to be the distinguishing mark of those so begotten of God. In an hour when the mystery of iniquity is being revealed, the mystery of righteousness will also be revealed . . . in a people. They will not walk in a newer, more recent, updated set of doctrines. They will have left the realm of concept and will walk in the realm of realities. This will be the characteristic which will distinguish them from the religious, harlot systems containing the "7,000 names of Babylon."

But, though elected and chosen and anointed to this ministry, they will not come into the visible possession of such a ministry until they have come to maturity. David was a type of this. David, as a lad, was anointed to rulership by Samuel, but it wasn't until he was at least 40 years old that he actually received the kingdom. He was anointed three times, Saul but once. He was anointed by Samuel, as a lad. Later, after Saul's death, by the tribe of Judah. Finally, he was anointed by all Israel, at which time he was installed as undisputed king of Israel. There is an anointing which we received in our "outer court" experience; another, and greater anointing, which we received when we were baptized in the Holy Spirit. There is a third, and yet future anointing which will be the receiving of the Spirit "without measure" for those who continue following Him into full sonship as co-heirs and co-rulers with Him.

They are also typified as the "Benjamin Company." Joseph, whose throne it was, had but one full brother out of all Israel. That was Benjamin. The rest of the brothers had the same father, but a different mother. Those in the Benjamin company have no earthly organization as their mother. Theirs is the New Jerusalem mother which is from above, while their half-brothers are content to look to Springfield , MO, Cleveland, TN, or some other headquarters on this earth as that from which their authority springs. The word, "headquarters", means, the place where the head resides, where it "quarters." Does your head have its quarters on this earth?

Benjamin was the only one born in the inheritance. She who brought him forth called him, Benoni. It means, Son of sorrow: but Benjamin's father would not accept that. "And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin" -- Genesis 35:18. Not son of sorrow, but son of my right hand shall he be. Is it not interesting that it was Benjamin's sack in which Joseph's cup was found? Especially when Jesus has asked the question, "Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with" -- Matthew 20:22? Stephen Jones, in his book, Secrets of Time in Prophecy, makes the interesting observation that the disciples Jesus was speaking to here were all from Galilee (except for Judas who was probably a proselyte Edomite) and therefore were from that portion of Israel which belonged to Benjamin.

Only those who are willing to share "Joseph's" cup, willing to share in the fellowship of Christ's sufferings, will have part in ruling and reigning with Him. "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:" -- 2 Timothy 2:12. There is an inheritance in Christ which is far more than eye has seen or ear heard, and it is reserved for those who desire Him with all their hearts. Benjamin, you will recall, received a portion five-times larger than his brethren. He was also the youngest of the children of Israel. It will be those members which are birthed last, the feet members of the body of Christ who will come into the fullness of the inheritance. "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him" -- 1 Corinthians 15:26,27.

It has been the unsearchable wisdom of God that the election and preparation of this last-hour remnant is after a secret and hidden manner. Because it has been hidden from most, it has cost the elect to continue in their obedience in following after the Lamb whithersoever He goeth. There has been, and will continue to be until the end, separations of dear, well-loved, and long-trusted friends from those who see what their friends and brethren do not. In some cases it will mean that the future sons, that life of the Son within them, is shut up in limitation and restriction as doors of ministry and service are closed to them. Their brethren still have their fields of endeavor while the Josephs are shut up. But though they, in some cases, have meant it for evil, the Lord has meant it for good that He might save many people through them.

The time will eventually come when the brethren who despised this dreamer of rulership will come to him because there is a famine in the land. "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:" -- Amos 8:11. On another level it may surely be said that those natural Israelites who sold their despised brother, Jesus, into the hands of the Gentiles, and who have all these long years supposed that He was dead, will come also to Joseph, bowing down to Him. They will not recognize Him at first when He appears in His corporate Gentile body. But they will eventually, as He reveals Himself to them, come to say, "Blessed is he that cometh in the name (nature) of the Lord." "For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord" -- Matthew 23:39.

As surely as there are a people who will enter into the life of the testimony of the divine Ark , taking on themselves the same nature contained therein, and its authority, in order to show forth this redemption in the earth, so surely will they who pierced Him, they "...Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;" -- Romans 9:4, say, "Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!" So, also, I might add, will many of those who now reject the sonship message as fanaticism.

This remnant, this virgin church, so brought forth, has not known the "forceps" of man's intervention; it has been a normal birth accomplished by the Spirit alone. As each member has held to the Head, which reigns in majesty, they are made one in Him. This church was seen coming out of the wilderness during Martin Luther's day. Not as a part of Luther's Protestant movement, but outside of it. This virgin church has not been a part of the Great Harlot or her daughters of Protestantism. This virgin church has not been defiled with women. (There are several applications to being "defiled with women."

To walk according to the sensual, soulish [female part] life rather than after the Spirit, or those who are partaking of those dainties served only in the houses of the harlot systems of man's religion.) It has taken from then until now, in successive stages of growth and development, in the obtaining of revelation and understanding of the heart and purpose of God, for this virgin church to come to some measure of maturity. None know what that stage of development is just now: we just know that the time of the redemption of the body, spoken of in Romans 8, is upon us.
