THE  EPISTLE

As foreseeing in the glass of divine wisdom(1), what a wonderful time is approaching upon this visible creation, which predicts many great revelations and changes, in order to bring in that kingdom that shall have such firm establishment as to be of a permanent and unchangeable kind. An alarm has gone forth that was opened to the author thereof, from the beginning of January, 1700, and so onwards, to summon and call in the Lamb's spiritual warriors to fight His battles(2) that the decision may be given for those great heroes that hold out the fight of faith with that covenant bow.

The arrows of these spiritual warriors shall pierce through the seven-headed and ten-horned beast, of whom it is said, "Who shall be able to make war with it?" Who but those that are mounted upon the white horse of immaculate purity and brightness, wherein their strength shall be to tread down all infernal spirits and powers that may be rallied together in a body. This is either to be understood inwardly and spiritually, or outwardly as evil spirits may animate persons to pour out fury in a hostile way. It is plainly to be seen that this time is commenced already.

Therefore, those are here called upon who have renounced the mark and name of the beast which with numerous numbers doth come forth from the troublesome sea(3) of this world to cast up and bespatter with the muddy earth. All which is to be resisted and overcome by those that come forth from out of the calm, serene and quiet ocean of God's love, which the glassy sea(4) does represent, where the great conquest and overcoming is to be. For this holy army shall bear the name of God(5) upon their foreheads and the sealed name of the eternal Word upon their hearts, and gird on the flaming sword of the spirit(6) whereby they shall put to flight all that do take part with the beast and his kingdom.

Therefore, be wise and understand, all you to whom this comes to hand, to which side or party you do belong, and try your more inward state as to whether you engage in war for the Lamb or contrarily give place to this grand enemy. Therefore, be advised to abhor to be upholders of the horn and strength of the bestial kingdom, whether within or without. For heaped upon you will be immunities and blessings (as you shall prove valiant in the fight for the Lamb's kingdom) which are opened here in this following treatise as the reward of those that shall hold out in strong resolution till they have gained the conquest.

Now by commission from the Sovereign Governor of this Sharon-land, I am to go further and proceed to declare to such who have passed through their probation hour(7) and have in good degree demolished the body of sin, that the jubilee time is at hand, and the everlasting gate now stands open for their return into their native paradisiacal land. The Great Jehovah Jesus, as the Joshua-leader, has cast the lot for each one.

According to the renowned deeds they shall have performed, so much larger and greater their assigned possession must be. But no lack or deficiency shall be complained of by any here. Such full portions are provided by the free donor that it must not be thought any way inferior to what the first planted flower of Paradise was instated in, whose glory so soon decayed. For this plantation described in this little tract will be as an unshaken foundation, the Lord Christ being their durable springing root. If the first plant had continued steadfast, he would have been advanced to many degrees higher, which must now have its rise and accomplishment by Him that is the Great Restorer, the measure of which ascending glories in these new paradisiacal plants no line could reach hitherto.

But thus far the Morning Star of Wisdom has cast forth her glance of light whereby it is clearly seen what a pleasant, peaceable and joyful state of life does here remain for the inhabitants of this new earth, which consisteth not of outward lands, houses, pomps and sensual pleasures, but is pure, holy, radiant and spiritual. And this is given to each one to enjoy and possess in their own particular, where we may set forth Mansions and Tents (metaphorically) which are incorruptible because God Himself will be the Tabernacle for the soul to inhabit, to which no creaturely power can either add or diminish.

All refreshing and delightful tasting will flow in abundance from this spiritual rock. No mortal can taste or know of this divine food. Rich and sumptuous clothing also, which well becomes the natives of this heavenly country, whose robes must agree with the Royal Court and Family of the Triune Deity. This all belongs to the inward and spiritual body which freely corresponds with the powers and immunities of the celestial world. Passage here is made by Christ (their ascending way) to go in and out and feed upon the Sharon-pasture which is ever new, fresh, and flourishing because there is a golden mist which waters it every moment.

Forasmuch as they are clothed upon with a corporeal form, this is not despised, because Christ hath formed Himself therein, opening the rosy tincture of His own deified Being. Upon which account also, the outward image has a right to possess accommodations of all the things this temporary state can afford; habitations and vineyards and the olive fatness, which shall spring about them in all fruitfulness as they abound in such blessings as the pure life of faith is to bring in.

For these plants of Paradise have no other care nor labor but to dress and trim and watch their ground as their enclosed garden. Heedful to prevent all mixed matter that may seek to put forth from the rational part. Then nothing shall hinder or stop the free flowing of Abraham's blessings, which abounds and comes in from the upper fountain store. The commanding appearance and presence of God among His holy separated fold shall be manifested so clearly that all courtesies and favors shall be thrust upon them, even by those that are without. For they shall have wherewithal to bless, with such returns as shall far transcend all that this outward world can extend to them.

Thus the author has faithfully given forth out of Wisdom's bank and treasury so much as may be for the inducement and encouragement of all who are ambitious and truly aspiring to know and experience a transplanting out of the wild, barren and cursed earth, to become springing plants in this Paradisiacal ground so that they may come to inherit all things in substance.

Numerous motives are set before your eyes to provoke and hasten you who are of this elected number which must fill up this holy court upon which the Sharon-rosy glory shall be the bright face of covering. Waste no time, but hasten and make your flight to come away as doves. This is the voice that cries in me to you all. I still remain an intercessor for you as if for myself, that we may meet together in this blissful Sharon land as roses always springing and giving forth their scented savor, even here in time, as in the boundless circle of eternity.

Therefore arise, arise, ye Lovers true,
Arise, ye glorious wondrous few
Who long have lain at ease, ingloriously obscured,
Despised, neglected, yet neglecting too,
Nor caring what the impious trifling World
Could either say or do.

O'erlook'd by Man, yet loved and favored High
In Heaven's regard, and God's auspicious Eye,
Whom neither high Preferments charm can move,
Ambition fire, or beauty prompt to love,
And yet -- to Love most true.

SONS OF THE MORN! Already born anew,
Born into Time,
And winged at Will -- to ascend the Ethereal clime.
Angelic Men -- Embodied Seraphim.
Arise ye Lovers true,
Arise, arise, ye wondrous FEW,

Instruments Divine, ordained, foresent,
Heaven's beauteous
Virgin Queen
To attend-- and usher in--
AMEN, AMEN -- HALLELUJAH.

1. God's wisdom.

2. Jane here alludes to the fact that although in the land of promise, a possession of that land must be executed in order to wrench that land from its usurping inhabitants. Though there were some skirmishes while still in the wilderness of Pentecost, in the land itself every hindrance and opposing impediment must be removed by David's warring spirit before Solomon's peaceable reign can ensue.

3. This "troublesome sea" and the "glassy sea" to which we find her often referring is a reference to that mystical ground or center from which one's essential nature arises. We find ourselves either acting from the ground of that new, risen nature of Christ, the New Creation, or from the old earthy ground of that fallen Adamic nature. What an apt description it is, too.

4. This is indeed a very good key! God's Love IS that glassy sea spoken of, from which nothing of a contrary will can move one. Why? Because Love never faileth, seeketh not her own, is not any of those things which, when disappointed, is cast down. Love is that Divine nature with which every Overcomer is so tinctured that they are co-deified. Such a nature, of which they are now become partakers, is immutable and unmovable. Remember, Love is God's crown and finishing touch to His work in the Overcomers. It is one and the same as maturity. There is no such thing as maturity without Love and the essential and most marked characteristic of Love is giving, for . . . "God so loved . . . that He gave . . ."

5. This has reference to the nature of God and of the Word of God. When God named man, Adam, it was not because that was who he was, but because that was what he was essentially in his nature. Jacob means, "Supplanter, schemer, conniver," and that is what Jacob was essentially. But when Jacob came to his Jabbok and there wrestled with the angel of the Lord who touched Jacob in the place of his strength so that he could never walk as he had before, he changed his name also. When he changed Jacob's nature, he also changed his name. Jacob became Israel, a prince with God. Also, Abigail refers to her husband in this way; "As his name is, so is he, for Nabal is his name and folly is with him." Nabal means fool. So when the scriptures say, "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will be writing upon him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God . . . and I will write upon him my new name" --Revelation 3:12, and "[I will give to him] . . .a new name which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it" --Revelation 2:17, and "And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called, Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes are as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written that no man knew but He Himself --Revelation 19:12. A name/nature is to be given which no man can know without experiencing it. Jesus, Himself, has a name, a facet of His being which no man shall ever know -- He is King of kings and Lord of lords! This "name" is written upon His vesture and upon His thigh. When something is said to have been written upon the forehead, it means that they are of this mind and nature. This is the ground from which they think. It is true of them also who are yet of the beast nature of fallen Adam. They are marked in their foreheads with that mind and therefore their works (right hand) bears evidence of it. So, remember, often when the Bible refers to a name, it is spiritually referring to the intrinsic nature.

6. The flaming sword of the Spirit is that living Word of God which divides asunder soul from spirit and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of men's hearts. It is that living Word of God before which all things are laid bare and naked. It is an uncovering, unmasking ministry by which God sets men and women free of the cloaking deception of the lie. It can penetrate the fig-leaves of mere religion.

7. This is probably a reference to having come to assurance of an inward resurrection and the subsequent 40-day probationary period which is for this purpose; to maintain a walk in that higher realm to which one is raised, without allowing the cares or obligations of the soulish realm from which one has been raised to place their concerns or requirements upon the resurrected soul. It also has to do with, as she says, the destruction of the body of sin; that is, the natural body. Then all the blessings and immunities follow. Notice that in all of this there is never any indication, however subtle or slight, of "claiming" anything or of just "believing" one has obtained. It is all about realities.
