BORN TO DIE
If half the word that we have heard,
Were allowed to live within,
Then surely we would be set free,
From the state of death we’re in.
We’ve heard so much and felt His touch.
So many times and yet,
It seems somehow the things we vow,
Are too easy to forget.
We long have tried to be justified,
By our works but only found,
We utterly failed, our flesh prevailed,
True life did not abound.
God hath degreed the first Adam’s seed,
Because of sin must die.
Jesus bore that bill on Calvary’s hill,
When he died as you and I.
Now we must choose our life to loose,
Our life is not our own.
Our sins he bore, that we sin no more,
The king of self we must dethrone.
Jesus chose to die as you and I,
Now we’re all dead in him,
The Christ shall reveal to all his will,
When he’s seen through us by them.
